Granite Creek to Childers - The hottest day of the bunch. My thermometer was reading 44°C (111°F). It was about 60 kms from the rest stop to Gin Gin and I ran out of water by the time I got to Gin Gin ... again, banging headache, nausea, etc. We spent about 4 hours in Gin Gin sitting out the hottest part of the day ... and it was almost stifling. Then we made our way to Childers and got within about 5 kms of it when it was dark. We tried to find a campsite around there but couldn't see anything so we sat in the petrol station for a while, and showered there, and ate ... and then about 9 pm, we slipped around back where the truckers parked their trucks and pitched the tent in a corner and stayed there for the night.
