We were up bright and early to catch the train to the Gold Coast, specifically Surfer's Paradise. I wasn't overly impressed with the area - it's really built up with tons of high rise hotels and apartments and things. In fact, looking at the architecture, I'd venture a guess that some time in the 1980s, influenced by Miami Vice, that whole area suddenly had a growth spurt!! I've never seen such a collection of pink and white buildings with "themes"!
The beach itself was nice and so that's where we spent most of our time. I've added to my tan and burnt a few little spots where I accidentally missed with the sunscreen. Yes, unlike I do in Canada, I was using sunscreen, wearing a hat, and had my sunglasses on! I think it is wonderful to be on a beach 3 days before Christmas!!
Unfortunately Rob is not feeling very well. I hope he feels better tomorrow.
