Returned to Hobart, but rode the loop road around the Port Arthur penninsula. Took a bit of a shortcut on that loop up and over a hilly gravel road - good views, but there was that gravel issue again! We stopped at a Tasmanian Devil park briefly but the cost and the lack of time prevented us from going in to see them. So we continued on to see some rock formations: The Blow Hole, The Tasman Arch, and the Devil's Kitchen. These reminded me of some of the rock formations in the western US desert.
And then we decided to cycle up that long gradual descent rather than taking the shorter steeper route up. I was a bit sceptical about my abilities to make it up, figuring I would walk either way ... but I surprised myself by cycling all the way up the 4 km ascent!! Then it was back onto that gravel road, and back onto the busy highway into Sorell. By the time we had turned off toward Seven Mile Beach, the light had gone and we had to use our headlights to make our way back into Rowan's place.
