From Moss Vale we decided to push straight through to Canberra ... 177 kms via Goulburn (my first Australian century). Goulburn was the first inland city and is known for its sheep and wool. The route to Canberra was much more to my liking - relatively flat! The first half or so was quite scenic through eucalyptus forests and ponderosa pines (those must have been introduced). The rest of the way was along the freeway, but the shoulders were wide and the traffic wasn't too bad. Along the way I counted 5 dead wombats and 9 dead kangaroos. We stopped at a hostel in Canberra.

We're spending the day here, and then tomorrow we'll make our way down to Cooma and then into the mountains.

I'll have to see how I do when we get to the parts where there's some serious climbing.

Aside from some sore muscles, I'm doing all right. It might take me a while to get into this business of cycling so far every day.

I have been enjoying the different wildlife (especially the birds), and the varied plant life.
